I hate to wait. Don’t you? I mean I want what I want and I want it now. That’s the spirit of the age. We have become so conditioned to have things immediately that we grow intensely Frustrated when we have to wait in the least. Patient is no longer seen a virtue, but as a punishment.
And we, as Christians can especially become impatient when it comes to the return of Jesus Christ. I mean, like when is he coming? Should we be here already? Doesn’t the Lord see what’s going on here?
But listen to the wisdom from James chapter 5, “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
Just like that farmer has to wait for the good produce of his land to spring forth, we have to wait as well. And when that harvest comes, that fruit is so delicious and joyful. And so it will be when the Lord finally comes.
Beloved, good things come to those who wait. May we wait with eagerness, but may we also wait with faith!
Change begins in you!
