Count your blessings. Name them one by one. Count your blessings. See what God has done.

Indeed, all human beings have been blessed by God in some form or fashion, but if you are a Christian, you have been super-blessed. In fact, the Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 1 that we Christians have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Well, how exactly did that happen? v4 says this happened to us because the Father chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world. That means He fixed His love on us. And then, according to v5, the Father because of that love predestined us to adoption to himself. He ordered history so that we would experience His love and become his sons and daughters. And why did He do this? v5 and 6 says it was because of the purpose of His will, which was to glorify His amazing grace. We don’t deserve it, but God desired to give it to us.

Beloved, if you are in Christ, you have been graced. You have been favored. You have been blessed! Not because you are great, but because God is great and great in grace.

And if you are not yet in Christ, God extends this blessing to you. He beckons and invites you and every person in the world to turn from sin and trust in Christ. And, if you’ll do that, you’ll be blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places as well. That’s blessing on top of blessing!
