Good morning on this fine Wednesday! Have you looked at your calendar to see what’s on your agenda for today? If you are Christian, I know one thing that should be on there: the Great Commission. Did you know that you have been commissioned?
We read in Matthew 28 that after Jesus’ resurrection, He gathered his disciples together on a mountain in Galilee and proclaimed these words over them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
That’s the Great Commission. And it extends to every follower of Jesus Christ. God the Father has given all authority in heaven and on earth to Jesus, and Jesus has commissioned us to make disciples wherever we go in our daily lives. We are to share the Good News of Jesus, call people to turn from sin and to trust in Jesus, baptize them when they do become a Christian, and then teach them to follow all that Jesus has commanded.
It’s not just sometimes thing or across the ocean thing. No, it’s a right here, right now, this very day sort of thing. So, go be a Great Commission Christian today. If that’s not on your calendar, be sure to add it. This community needs you to tell them all about the hope that is in Jesus.
Change begins in you!
