Theologian Carl Henry once said, “The gospel is only good news if it gets there in time.” Why is that? Because Scripture is clear that it’s appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. There is no reincarnation. There is no post-death decision. You have one life as your only opportunity to make a decision to turn from sin and trust in Christ. If you don’t, your sin will condemn you to Hell.
But before a person can ever choose Christ, they must hear the good news of Christ. Apostle Paul says in Romans 10, “How then will they call on Jesus in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”
The disturbing truth is that there may still be nearly 2 billion individuals on planet Earth who have never even had a chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And the gospel is only good news if it gets there in time before they die. If they don’t turn from sin and trust in Christ before they die, they will justly bear the condemnation of their sin in hell forever.
That’s why we have to do our part to get the good news to them, so that they have a chance to be saved. And if we’ll do that, a great many of them will be saved. So, share the gospel yourself where you live, go on mission trips to places around the world, support missionaries and mission-sending agencies like the International Mission Board, and pray that the good news gets there in time, and they receive it!
Change begins in you!
