CONNECT people to Christ and POUR into their lives His teaching so they'll OVERFLOW for the glory of God

The Total Gift of Salvation

People find a lot of things to boast, but one thing that we should never boast in is our salvation. Why? Because it is a gift from beginning to end.

We know this because God tells us this is the case in many passages of Scripture, but perhaps none as clearly as in Ephesians 2:8–9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Beloved, if you are in Christ, you have been saved by grace, which is God’s unmerited favor. You didn’t deserve your salvation. God graced you with it.

And how did that grace get to you? Well, Scripture says it came through your faith in Christ. Ah, isn’t that a reason to boast in myself?

Well, before you are tempted to smile with pride because of YOUR faith that got God’s grace to you, realize what Paul says immediately after that. He makes clear that your faith itself is a gift from God and not a result of something you did. So, you can’t boast even in your faith. God again graced you with it. God graced you with the faith that got you more grace. And for that reason, no one in Christ can boast in themselves at all. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord,” because He gets all the credit and glory.

Beloved, He’s the only thing really worth boasting in!

Change begins in you!
