I have a riddle for you this morning: What is greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it, the rich don’t need it, and if you eat it, you’ll die?
The answer to the riddle is “nothing.” Nothing is greater than God. Nothing is more evil than the Devil. The poor have nothing. The rich need nothing. And if you eat nothing, you’ll die.
Did you get the answer right? I want to challenge you to focus in on the truth that nothing is greater than God, and one of the reasons this is true is that God is eternal. He has no beginning and no end. In fact, in 1 John 2:13, Apostle John tells us that one of the reasons he’s writing this letter to us to help us live a life that pleases God is because we know Him who is from the beginning. That’s a way of pointing to God’s eternality, His no-beginning-ness, His never-ending-ness. You see, in the beginning, God already was, and forevermore He will be.
Because God is great, particularly in His eternal nature, we should live a life that honors Him. There is no one or no thing greater than our God. And my life and your life should be lived in light this truth!
Change begins in you!
