How many words over the course of your life do you think you have heard or read from the Bible? I bet it’s a bunch. But when you and I stand before God, that is not the question we will be asked. God is not as concerned with how much of His Word we have heard. He is concerned with how much of His Word we have done.
We know this because the Holy Spirit says in James 1, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves… The one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
Beloved, do you want to be blessed? Then don’t just hear the Word of God. Hearing the Word of God is important. But more important is putting that Word you have heard into practice. Go do it! Go live it! Go be the person that God’s Word has called you to be so that they’ll see God in you. As someone once wrote, “I will not a hearer only be. I will be a doer. Then they’ll see.”
Change begins in you!
