How to Bless Momma

I hope all you mommas had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Where would we be without our mommas?

What did you do over the weekend to bless your momma? Proverbs 10:1 tells us a great way to bless both our mom and our dad, and here’s the best part: it doesn’t cost a thing. It says, “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.”

Did you catch how to bless your mom and dad in that verse? It’s rather simple. Be wise.

Wisdom is choosing what is best in a situation. It’s making not just a good choice but the best choice. And it touches every part of our lives. We must be wise in our finances, wise in our relationships, wise in our health habits, wise in our educational pursuits, wise in our career moves, wise in our spiritual pursuits, and so on. There’s no part of our life where wisdom doesn’t come into play. We must make good choices, which is the essence of wisdom. Nothing blesses a mom or dad more than when you are wise.

And on the flip side, nothing grieves a mom and dad more than a foolish son or daughter. As the proverb says, “A foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” Foolishness or folly is choosing what is bad in a situation. It’s making the wrong choice, and when we make the wrong choices in life, it not only grieves our mom and dad who tried to raise us better than that, but it also can come with some serious consequences, including perhaps prison and even death. No parent wants that for their child.

So, how do you choose wisdom over foolishness? The Bible says that the first step to wisdom is fearing the Lord. It’s says in Proverbs 9 that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fearing God means that we obey God. We don’t want to face his wrath, so we do what he says do.

Wanna bless your mom and dad? Then fear God so that you will become wise.

Change begins in you!
