I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but did you know that a day of judgment is coming? One day you and I and every person will stand before God as our judge, and we will be judged based on our obedience and disobedience to Him.

How confident are you that God will deliver a positive verdict on your life? Honestly, you and I should have no confidence in ourselves. We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We have all disobeyed God. The judicial case against is an open and shut one. We are guilty without a doubt. I mean, looking to my life, I have no confidence whatsoever. I’m sunk!

But the Holy Spirit in 1 John 4 says that you and I can indeed have confidence on Judgment Day if we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. You see, God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. And if we have believe on Christ, we abide in God’s love. And that love is perfect.

And guess what:  the Holy Spirit tells us here in 1 John 4 that perfect love casts out fear. If we have come to experience the perfect love of Jesus Christ, then we have nothing to fear on the day of judgment. We can have absolute confidence on the day of judgment because God in His love has washed away our sins and atoned for them. God in His love has forgiven us our trespasses. God in His love has imputed all of the righteousness of Christ to us. Beloved, if we have put our confidence in Christ, we can have full confidence on the day of judgment.

Have you put your confidence in Christ? Have you come to know and believe the love that God has for you? I pray that you’ll do that today before judgment day comes.
