Do you sometimes struggle with what to pray? One of the best techniques I learned over the years is to pray the Word of God, especially the prayers of people in the Bible.
In Ephesians 1, we get a great example. Apostle Paul told the Ephesian Christians that he never ceased remembering them in his prayers and then goes on to detail what he prays for them in verses 17-19, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might.”
That’s really solid content for prayer, and we would be wise to pray that prayer over one another. In fact, let me pray that over you this morning:
Father, I pray over the person who is watching this morning that You would give them the Holy Spirit who brings wisdom and that they would intimately know Him. Please enlighten their eyes so that they fully realize and experience the hope that is found in Jesus Christ, which comes with a glorious inheritance through your great might. Thank you, Father, for being immeasurably great. I pray the person who is watching this morning would know your greatness and rejoice in it. Amen.
Beloved, when you don’t know what to pray, pray the Scripture.
Change begins in you!
