Joy to world! The Lord is come! I hope that your holiday weekend is special. Hey, we would love for you to join us at Collinsville First Baptist Church for our Christmas Eve service at 4:00pm this Saturday and our Christmas morning service at 10:15am this Sunday.

Every Christmas is special because it’s an open invitation from God to every person on planet earth to experience hope, peace, joy, and love through Christ Jesus. We’re thinking on these blessings this week, and today we’ll focus on Christ.

On the night of Jesus’ birth, an angel of the Lord appeared and declared to shepherds on a hillside outside of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

We often hear that word “Christ.” I mean, it’s right there in Christmas. CHRIST-mas. Is it Jesus’ last name? No, it is actually his title. He is Jesus, the Christ. Christ means the anointed one of God. He is the promised savior sent from God to save us from our sins and rule as king over our world.

Beloved, give Christ his proper place this Christmas season in your heart and life. Never forget that He is the reason for the season. Make Him the center of your celebration, and let Him be the basis of your joy. As the old carol goes, Come and worship, come and worship, Worship Christ the newborn King!
