Who’s the smartest person you know? How about the wisest? Are they the same person? Sometimes wisdom and knowledge don’t come in the same person. You ever met somebody who’s really intelligent but has no common sense?

But here in the book Romans, chapter 11, we see that God is that total package. He’s both intelligent and wise. In fact, He’s higher in both than we could ever be. He’s the smartest and wisest being you’ll ever know.

And Apostle Paul takes a moment to rejoice over this truth, writing “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.”

Beloved, that moment of praise describes so well our one and only, true and living God. He’s is so high above us. Yet, He reaches down so low to us to work out His marvelous plan of redemption. Yeah, sometimes His judgments and ways don’t make sense to us, but they are divine judgments and divine ways. So, they are perfect. What God does is always right and ultimately glorifying to Him, which is ultimately good for all of us who are His.

So, may we rejoice along with Paul in God’s knowledge and wisdom, and may we rest in them as well.
