What if I told you the biggest threat to your life isn’t what you eat, watch, or hear?

In Mark 7, Jesus called the crowd together and said that nothing outside a person going into him can defile him. It’s what comes out that defiles. Food enters the stomach, light enters the eyes, and sound waves enter our ears. None of them touch our heart.

But from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.

Our eyes, ears, and mouths aren’t the root. They’re the doorways. The heart is the source.

That means a better filter won’t fix us. Certainly, it can help us in many ways, but it just cannot fix us. No, we need a new heart, and only Jesus can do that.

So stop trying to clean up the outside. Ask Him to change what’s within because that’s where change begins.
