Imagine you were deaf your whole life, and one touch from Jesus opened your ears. Could you keep that to yourself?

In Mark 7, Jesus took a deaf man with a speech impediment aside, put His fingers in his ears, touched his tongue, and said, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” Immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly.

Jesus ordered them to tell no one. But the more He ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. They were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well.”

Here’s the question: if a physical healing made them unable to be silent, why are we so quiet about Jesus has done for us? For those of us who are in Christ, He has done something far greater for us, hasn’t He? He has healed our spiritual deadness and given us everlasting life.

He’s saved us from the pit of hell. Our ears have been opened. Our tongues have been released. So let’s tell everybody everywhere every chance we get what Jesus has done!
