What if I told you you are in the middle of a war and that you have a relentless enemy striving to kill you? And that that enemy is not interested in the least in a peace treaty or a compromise. They will stop at nothing until you are dead. And because of that, you only have two options: kill or be killed.
Whoa! Those are some pretty high stakes, but that’s exactly how the Holy Spirit through Apostle Paul describes our situation in Romans 8 in this spiritual battle you and I are in. It’s kill or be killed.
Listen to what he wrote: “So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
Sorry, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and covetousness. You can no longer live in me. I must put you to death.
Sorry, unrighteous anger, wrath, malice, slander, and filthy talk. You can no longer live in me. I must put you to death.
Sorry, idolatry, adultery, transsexuality, homosexuality, thievery, drunkenness, slandering, swindling. You can no longer live in me. I must put you to death.
Beloved, you are in a battle for your life. If the enemy of cancer invaded your body, wouldn’t you try to kill it before it killed you? In the same way, kill sin before it kills you. May the victory be yours by the power of the Holy Spirit!
Change begins in you!
