Have you ever read through a church directory? That’s almost what it feels like as you read through Colossians 4:10-18. It’s basically just a string of names. Most people just skip them, but slow down. These are real people God used to advance His kingdom, and their stories are more encouraging than you might think.
Aristarchus was a prisoner alongside Paul, faithful even in chains. Mark had failed before, yet here he is, restored and useful. Justus is mentioned only once in all of Scripture, yet Paul calls him a comfort. Epaphras wrestled in prayer for churches he loved deeply. Luke, the beloved physician, served faithfully behind the scenes. Demas appears here, though he would later walk away.
No superstars. No celebrity pastors. Just ordinary, sometimes-struggling people showing up for the mission.
That’s the point. God doesn’t wait for perfect people. He works through available ones. Some are remembered, some forgotten. Some finish strong, some stumble. But together, they carried the gospel forward.
Beloved, you don’t need a platform to matter in God’s kingdom. You just need to show up. Your name may never be famous. But in God’s story, everybody’s a somebody.
Change begins in you!
