Today, we continue the second week of the Advent season with our focus on peace.
Jesus spoke the following words in John 14:27 just hours before He was arrested and sent to the cross: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Notice what He didn’t say. He didn’t promise His disciples an easy road ahead. He didn’t guarantee safety, comfort, or smooth circumstances. In fact, He’d just told them He was leaving. The very thing they feared most was about to happen.
Yet in that moment, Jesus offered peace, and that’s very instructive for us.
The world’s peace depends on everything going right—stable finances, good health, secure relationships, favorable circumstances. When those things crack, the world’s peace shatters with them.
But Jesus’ peace is different. It’s not built on circumstances; it’s rooted in His presence. It’s not conditional; it’s a gift. “My peace I give you”—present tense, active, personal. This peace flows from who He is and what He’s accomplished, not from what’s happening around you.
So, this Advent, as you face uncertainty, disappointment, or fear, remember: the peace Christ offers isn’t fragile. It is held by the cross. It conquers the grave. And nothing in your life today can take it away. Devil, you ain’t stealing my peace.
May you be blessed this Advent season!
Change begins in you!
