What if one command could silence the darkest thing in your life?

In the Gospel of Mark, chapter 1, we read of a man in Capernaum tormented by an unclean spirit. Jesus spoke just a single sentence—”hush, and come out”—and the spirit obeyed and left him.

It happened in that city’s synagogue. Jesus was teaching there. The crowd was already astonished because Jesus taught “as one who had authority” (v22). The scribes could explain the Law. Jesus spoke as the one who wrote the Law.

But their astonishment grew even more when Jesus exorcised that demon. They marveled amongst themselves that even the demons knew who He is and obeyed Him.

And that man? He was set free. With one command, the spiritual chains fell.

Beloved, nothing is too dark or too big for Jesus. His authority is supreme. It isn’t a threat to you. It’s your freedom.

So, I wonder, what are you still holding back from Jesus’s leadership and authority? Your habits? Your money? Your secrets? Your future? Change doesn’t begin with trying harder. It begins with yielding. Jesus isn’t asking for a corner of your heart. He’s asking for every room. He’s worthy of your entire life, and you would be wise to give it to Him.

Today, I pray you submit everything to Him. May the One whom even the demons tremble at and obey be the One you gladly follow.
