CONNECT people to Christ and POUR into their lives His teaching so they'll OVERFLOW for the glory of God

Stop Trying to Prove Yourself

Have you ever felt the pressure to prove that you’re spiritual enough? Maybe someone suggested you would be enough in the eyes of God if you followed certain rules, observed specific practices, or adopted their standard of holy living. The Colossian believers felt this pressure too.
Paul confronts it directly in Colossians 2: “Don’t let anyone judge you” about religious regulations. These teachers were adding requirements to the gospel—if you want to be right with God, do this, don’t do that, celebrate these festivals, follow these dietary restrictions. They made spirituality about performance rather than relationship.
Today, this looks like measuring faith by the length of your daily quiet time, wearing certain clothes and hairstyles, carrying the “right” Bible translation, never missing church, giving a particular amount of money, or serving in some particular ministry. Or maybe it’s just social media spirituality where we curate an image rather than cultivate an authentic relationship with Christ.
Here’s what’s insidious: this pressure shifts our focus from Christ’s finished work to our ongoing effort. Suddenly, we’re trying to prove ourselves worthy through discipline and dedication, earning what Jesus already secured for us.
Apostle Paul calls this what it is—a disconnect from Christ, “the head.” When we’re truly connected to Jesus, we recognize He proved Himself for us. His life, death, and resurrection accomplished everything necessary for our acceptance before God.
Beloved, if you are in Christ, you don’t have to prove yourself to Jesus. You’ll never be enough through exhausting religious performance. Jesus already did the work. He already paid the price. Rest in what Christ has done. Trust in Him. He’s enough.
Change begins in you!
