Well, the Lord, according to 2 Thessalonians 3:5, is doing a similar thing. Apostle Paul prays that the Lord will direct our hearts. And what is He directing our hearts into? Two things: the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ.
Beloved, that’s where our hearts need to be. If we want to experience the best life has to offer, we need to, as Jesus said, Matthew 22:37, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” That means to love Him first and to love Him most and to love Him with all you got.
And He’s also directing your heart to steadfastness with Christ. Our hearts are prone to wander, prone to elevate other things in our affection, prone to wane cold for the Lord. But God’s desire for us, the best life we can have, is when our hearts are steadfast in Christ, when He is not only uppermost in our affections but stays there at our #1. He doesn’t slide up and down on the scale of the priorities of our love. Our love doesn’t leave and wander. No, God is directing us to fix our hearts steadfastly on Christ. That’s where the best life is found.
Just like in that parking lot, we would be foolish to ignore the parking assistants and just go our own way because we would likely mess it up. It’s the same with the Lord. He’s waving our hearts into the place that’s best for us. Let your heart go where He is directing you. He will never steer you wrong!
Change begins in you!
