As we turn to Genesis 28, Jacob was, in a sense, running—fleeing his past, uncertain of his future, sleeping on stones in the wilderness. Yet it was there, in his most vulnerable moment, that God met him in a dream with an extraordinary promise: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go…I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you” (Genesis 28:15).
This wasn’t a promise for perfect circumstances. Jacob’s journey ahead held great hardship and years of struggle. But through it all, God’s presence remained constant—not as a distant observer, but as an active guardian committed to fulfilling His purposes.
Beloved, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, that same promise echoes to you today. Perhaps you’re in your own wilderness—between what was and what will be, sleeping on stones of uncertainty, fear, or disappointment. God’s word to Jacob is His word to you: I am with you. Not just in the mountaintop moments, but in the barren places. Not only when you’re faithful, but when you’re fleeing and flawed.
You know, God doesn’t promise to remove every difficulty. He actually promises something better: His unwavering presence. He will keep you. He will not abandon you. And He will accomplish what He has purposed for your life.
When Jacob awoke, he declared, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” In that same spirit, I pray that you will open your eyes today. God is with you—right there, right now—and He will see His promises through to completion.
Change begins in you!
