In the heart of every person is a longing for their labor to matter. Whatever people do, they want it to really make a difference, to last longer than the fleeting moment, to be bigger than themselves. Do you long for that?
Well, today’s word of wisdom has the key for you and me to experience that. Listen to Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” That phrase, “commit your work to the Lord” is the key.
But what does that mean? Well, it means at least two things. One, it means to commit to doing only what would please the Lord. There are a lot of things you can do, but there are things that God says are out of bounds. Commit to doing only what God says is good, and the Lord will bless your work.
But secondly, “commit your work to the Lord” means to do it unto the Lord. You’re not just doing it to check that thing off your to-do list or for that boss or for that paycheck. No, you’re doing it for God! 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” That elevates even the most mundane and menial tasks.
When you commit your work to the Lord, God will bless it.
Change begins in you!
