One of the most beautiful words in all the Bible is the word “grace.” Grace means that we get the good rewards we haven’t earned, we get the good things we don’t deserve. And God makes an astounding promise in the book of Romans that there will always be enough grace from God to cover our sins. Where our sin is big, God’s grace is bigger. Where our sin is deep, God’s grace is deeper. Where our sin is wide, God’s grace is wider. And that is wonderfully true!
But here’s the deal. We should never see that great promise of God’s overcoming grace as a license to sin or as a get-to-sin-for-free card. No, we should never intentionally put God to the test, “God, I’m going to sin as much as I can just to see if your grace really will cover all my sin. and if so, then I will glory in your amazing grace.”
No, that would be a complete misuse or even an abuse of God’s grace. For that reason, the Holy Spirit says through Apostle Paul in Romans 6, “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?” And his answer is, “By no means! May it never be! Absolutely not! God forbid!” Beloved, if you’ve been saved by God’s grace, take full advantage of that grace by being forgiven and then striving to go and sin no more.
Change begins in you!
