Title: Only Skin Deep?
Text: Matthew 5:27-30
Tonight’s Takeaway: Sexual immorality is more than skin-deep
A. God has indeed set up sexual boundaries for our body
B. But, those same boundaries extend past our skin to our mind and heart
How do we guard our heart and body against against sexual immorality?
1. Delight yourself in the Lord (Psalm 37:4)
2. Commit yourself to the truth of God’s Word (Joshua 1:8)
3. Realize who owns your body (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)
4. Satisfy yourself with your spouse (Proverbs 5:18-19)
5. Walk in God’s strength and armor (Ephesians 6:10-11)
6. Be filled with the Spirit so that you produce godly fruit (Galatians 5:22-23)
7. Trust that that sexual purity will get easier and will be worth the wait (Ecclesiastes 7:8)
8. Get married sooner than later (1 Corinthians 7:9)
9. See the wicked scheme behind sexual temptation (James 1:14-15)
10. Understand the seriousness of sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
11. Be willing to go to radical measures to avoid sexual immorality (Matthew 5:29-30)
12. Make a covenant with your eyes (Job 31:1)
13. Refuse to feed your lusts (Romans 13:14)
14. Take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5)
15. Kill the thoughts that are wicked (Colossians 3:5)
16. Replace sinful passions to righteous pursuits with the encouragement of likeminded Christians (2 Timothy 2:22)
17. Avoid compromising situations (Proverbs 5:7-8)
18. Take God’s escape (1 Corinthians 10:13)
19. Realize that victory is possible (1 Corinthians 6:11)
20. Run to Jesus in repentance, and go and sin no more (John 8:10-11)
May sexual purity permeate this people of God!
